On 5/22/2014, The Sheriff's Gang Unit served a search warrant at the home of Homero Barajas in the unincorporated community of El Rio.  During the service of the search warrant, Barajas ran through his home and attempted to flush over 7 ounces of methamphetamine down the toilet.  Detectives arrested Barajas and prevented the drugs from being destroyed.  A handgun was located during the search warrant.  Barajas and his girlfriend, Annabell Sanchez, were arrested for conspiracy and possession of methamphetamine for sale.

Sheriff's Detectives believe Barajas and Sanchez were a major source of drug sales in El Rio.  Barajas is a documented gang member and has an extensive criminal history including robbery, transportation and sale of drugs, and domestic violence.  Barajas is being held in lieu of $1,000,000 bail and Sanchez is being held in lieu of $750,000 bail at the Ventura County Jail.
