The Ventura County Interagency Pharmaceutical Crimes Unit arrested Sonja Hollett on May 22, 2014,

for sales of oxycodone and methamphetamine. Investigators conducted an investigation into Hollett after they learned she was dealing prescription opiate medication and methamphetamine from a residence in the 1300 block of Fuschia, Oxnard. The investigation revealed that Hollett was dealing drugs from a residence where she was the caretaker for a 94 year old man. The service of a search warrant at the residence where Hollett worked, and a subsequent probation search at her residence, yielded evidence of the crime of drug sales.

The Ventura County Interagency Pharmaceutical Crimes Unit is a full time task force comprised of members of law enforcement from the Ventura County Sheriff's Office, Simi Valley Police Department, the District Attorney's Office Bureau of Investigation, and the California Highway Patrol. The task force's main mission is combating the transfer of legal prescription medication to the illegal market.

The task force was formed in May of 2013. Over the past year, investigators have arrested 114 individuals involved in the sales of drugs. Included in these arrests are four doctors, one pharmacist, and two nurse practitioners. The unit has served 64 search warrants and seized several million dollars worth of drugs, over 1.5 million dollars in currency and vehicles, and 20 firearms.
