FONTICIELLA - MURDERED IN 1978 - CASE: On May 2nd, 1978, the body of Icelo Fonticiella, 19 years of age, was found by ranch hands in a citrus orchard off of Aliso Canyon Road in the unincorporated area of Santa Paula. Fonticiella had been shot to death, and his death was ruled a homicide. An initial investigation into Fonticiella’s murder failed to result in a prosecution of those responsible.
Recently, new information coupled with advances in technology and investigative techniques, have allowed detectives to identify the individuals responsible for Fonticiella’s murder. Detectives are planning to submit their case to the
District Attorney’s Office for criminal filing consideration shortly.

Camarillo Burglary: On 02-08-07, Camarillo Citizen Patrol volunteers James Walker and Bill Mounday were on patrol in the city of Camarillo. At about 1935 hours, they were contacted by a security guard employed by the Tresierras Market. The security guard informed the volunteers that a person had just entered the store and stolen bottles of alcohol. After obtaining a suspect description, the volunteers remained in the area in an attempt to locate him.

Dead Body Found on Rincon: On February 8, 2007, shortly after 10:00 PM, Ventura County Firefighters called for Sheriff’s Deputies to respond to the scene of a vehicle fire, after the body of a male subject was found inside the vehicle. The male victim was obviously deceased and badly burned. The identity of the victim is unknown at this time, and it is not known if the victim had perished prior to, or during the fire. Medical Examiner’s officials will be conducting an autopsy later today and will attempt to learn the identity of the victim and cause of death. |

Seafresh Market Robbery: On February 7, 2007, a suspect entered the Sea Fresh Market in Ojai and attempted to rob the store. The suspect had been seen in front of the store less than 30 minutes earlier armed with a knife. Employees of the market recognized the suspect, who had a bandana covering the lower half of his face, as a prior employee by the name of Brent Stafford.

Thousand Oaks Burglary: On Monday February 5, 2007, suspects entered a home in the 3000 block of Globe Avenue, in the City of Thousand Oaks and stole property belonging to the homeowner while the homeowner was away. A vigilant neighbor saw two suspicious men and a red Honda vehicle at the scene of the crime. The neighbor wrote down the license plate number of the vehicle and furnished it to patrol deputies who were later tasked with the initial investigation of the burglary

Stolen Vehicle Pursuit: On February 8, 2007, at 9:20 AM, Deputy Luis Vazquez was patrolling in the a residential neighborhood in the unincorporated community El Rio when he saw a suspicious unoccupied vehicle in the 3400 block of Elaine Street.

Meth Lab in Moorpark On Monday, February 5, 2007, Patrol Deputies were called to investigate an allegation of a domestic dispute in the 15000 block of Middle Ranch Road, in an unincorporated area just north of the City of Moorpark. During their investigation, one of the involved parties in the dispute, Fidel Gomez, was found to be in possession of over two grams of methamphetamine. Additional investigation led to the discovery of an inactive methamphetamine lab in an outbuilding on the property. |

FILLMORE INCIDENT: On February 1, 2007, at approximately 7:45 P.M, units from the Fillmore Police Station responded to a call of an assault with a deadly weapon in the parking lot of Vons. The male adult victim suffered several stab wounds to his upper body. The suspects fled the area in a silver van.

MOTORCADE FOR FALLEN MARINE: Lance Cpl. Anthony Melia, United States Marine Corps, and local Thousand Oaks resident was killed in combat in Iraq on January 27, 2007, at the age of 20. The funeral is scheduled for Monday, February 5, 2007 at 10:00 AM. The service will be held at Calvary Community Church in Westlake Village and following there will be a graveside service at Valley Oaks Cemetery on Lindero Canyon Rd. |
