Telephone Outage in Ojai Area: At approximately 10:30 a.m., the Sheriff’s Communications Center received information regarding damage to a fiber optic telephone line near Ojai-Santa Paula Rd. (State Route 150) by Happy Valley School in the upper Ojai area. This has resulted in the interruption of telephone service to customers in the Ojai area, including the communities of Oak View, Ojai, Casitas Springs and Meiners Oaks.

Bike Accident in Thousand Oaks: On June 4, 2007, at 6:52 p.m. the Thousand Oaks Police Department responded to a call of a vehicle versus bicyclist traffic collision with injuries. The collision was on Kanan Road at the intersection of Falling Star Avenue, in the City of Thousand Oaks. |

Helicopter Rescue - Point Mugu: On Sunday June 25, 2006 , at about 2:53 PM , the Sheriff’s Rescue helicopter responded to a call of two persons needing assistance in the water of the Pacific Ocean near Point Mugu. Both persons had been swept off the rocks of the beach area near Point Mugu and were unable to make it back to shore.

Saticoy Homicide Update: Alfred Romero, the second of two victims involved in a drive-by shooting reported earlier today, died as a result of his wounds. He was pronounced dead while undergoing treatment of gunshot wounds at a local hospital.

Saticoy Homicide: On June 25, 2006, at about 1:51 AM, Sheriff’s Deputies responded to a call of a drive-by shooting that had occurred in the 11300 block of Violeta Street in the community of Saticoy. Deputies located two victims, who were transported to a local hospital for treatment of gunshot wounds. The 14 year old male died as a result of his wounds. The suspect(s) fled the scene in a dark compact vehicle with tinted windows. The suspect vehicle was last seen heading east-bound on Violeta Street. Detectives with the Major Crimes unit have begun an investigation, which is continuing. Anyone with information about the crime is encouraged to contact detectives at (805) 477-7000.

Fillmore Shooting:
On Saturday, June 24, 2006 , at about 8:00 PM , Fillmore patrol deputies responded to a call of a disturbance at the La Unica Market on Old Telegraph Road , near Hume Drive in the City of Fillmore .

Fillmore Driveby Shooting: On Sunday, June 18, 2006 , at about 10:00 PM , suspects in a newer dark full-size pickup truck fired a gun, striking Omar Oregon in the 800 block of 4 th Street , in the City of Fillmore . Oregon was transported to Community Memorial Hospital for treatment of non-life threatening wounds. The suspect vehicle was last seen leaving the scene of the crime west-bound on 4 th Street . Detectives with the Sheriff’s Major Crimes Unit are investigating the crime and are asking for the public’s help in identifying the suspects. Narcotics Arrest: On 6/14/06 , Sheriff’s Deputies from the Santa Clara Station in Fillmore responded to a residence located in the 2900 block of W. Telegraph Road in reference to a possible domestic violence incident. During the investigation, deputies saw several items that drew their attention to a detached garage located near the residence.

Graffiti Vandalism: On Tuesday June 13, 2006 at approximately 3 pm , Deputy Shawn Holzberger was patrolling the area under the Sespe River Bridge at Old Telegraph in North Fillmore because of recent graffiti vandalisms. He heard voices and then the ball bearing shaking of a spray paint can and saw three male juveniles spray painting graffiti on the concrete pillars supporting the railroad bridge.

Strong Arm Robbery In Fillmore: On June 10, 2006 , at about 1:20 AM , Antonio Ayala and Jose Morones were walking in the area of Old Telegraph Road at B Street in the City of Fillmore , when they were confronted by Edgar Hernandez and three other unknown suspects. The suspects threatened them with harm and demanded their money.

Narcotics Arrest in Camarillo: The Ventura County Sheriff's Narcotics Unit ended a short-term investigation that led to the discovery of harvested marijuana plants that were inside the garage of a home belonging to a Camarillo resident identified as Denise Callaway.

Threats Arrest: On Monday June 5, 2006, Deputies from the Fillmore Patrol Station were called to the Fillmore High School campus after a student was overheard talking about his plan to bring a gun to school on 6/6/06 to shoot other students and then himself. Deputies began an investigation, which included a search of the student and his home for weapons.

Arrest of Vehicle Burglary Suspects: On 06/03/06 , a passer-by observed three individuals breaking into a car that was parked on Harbor Boulevard , near Fifth Street . The witness had recently been a victim of a similar crime in the same area.

Child Endangerment in Thousand Oaks: On June 1, 2006 , the Ventura County Sheriff’s Department received a call in reference to two young children inside a vehicle in the parking lot of the Target Shopping Center on Teller Road , in the City of Thousand Oaks . According to the caller, the children appeared to be in heat distress.
