CAMARILLO RADIO SHACK ROBBED: On 3/24/2008, Camarillo Station deputies responded to a report of a robbery that just occurred at Radio Shack located on Arneill Road in the City of Camarillo. The victim described the suspect as a black male, in his 20’s, 6’0” tall, approximately 200 pounds, wearing a black leather jacket.

RECOVERED STOLEN VEHICLE: While working patrol in Thousand Oaks, Senior Deputy Russell King attempted to make a traffic enforcement stop on a 2001 BMW for a vehicle code violation. Prior to stopping the car, King ran a routine records check on the license plate and learned the vehicle had been reported stolen from a Thousand Oaks residence the previous day. After enforcement action was initiated, the car stopped on Conejo Boulevard near West Hillcrest Drive at which time all three occupants exited the vehicle and fled on foot into the nearby Janss Market Place.

GANG ASSAULT ARREST Ojai Sheriff’s deputies responded to a report of a gang assault in the alleyway, west of the Jolly Kone restaurant in Meiners Oaks. Deputies received a description of a suspect vehicle fleeing from the location. When deputies arrived in the area, they located the suspect vehicle at the intersection of Maricopa Highway and Cuyama Road. Deputies initiated a “high risk” traffic stop and removed Martin Delgado and a 16 yr old juvenile. During the investigation, a third suspect, Oscar Delgado Duran, surrendered to Sheriff’s deputies at the Ojai Police station.

Education Credits Enable Inmates to Earn Time Off Sentence: The Ventura County Sheriff’s Department is announcing a new program in which jail inmates may be eligible to receive credits for school, vocational training and substance abuse courses. These jail credits will be used to reduce their court sentences.

Burglary and Animal Cruelty in Somis: On March 9, 2008 deputies from the Ventura County Sheriff’s Department responded to the 1600 block of Los Angeles Avenue (S/R 118) reference a burglary. Upon their arrival, deputies learned that unknown suspect(s) forced their way into a tack room and stole approximately $1800 worth of saddles and other tack.

Rescued Hiker: On 3-9-08, Richard Maxwell and his wife, Carol Maxwell, were hiking the Pratt Trail in the Los Padres National Forest near Ojai, Ca. They were hiking with several other people, including a group of Boy Scouts, when Richard became light headed and stumbled. As a result, he fell down on the trail. The group of Boy Scouts tended to Richard while two of the adults went to the nearest ridge to call 911 on their cell phone.

Rescue of Injured Moutain Biker: On 3-8-08, (V) Sascha Mac went mountain biking with a friend on Nordhoff Ridge. While riding his mountain bike down hill, Sascha made a left turn. During the turn, he placed his left foot on the ground to help slow down his descent. When he did this, he felt a sharp pain in his ankle. He came to a stop and looked down to find his ankle deformed and possibly broken. His friend went for help while Sascha remained on the trail. Sascha was unable to walk or move due to his injury.

Rescue of Hiker: On 3-3-08, the Ventura County Sheriff’s Department received a 911 call from Evan Smith. Evan told the dispatchers he had gone hiking on Conejo Mountain and had become lost.

D.E.C.: Several Ventura County public agencies have recently joined forces in an effort to protect and provide services to children whose lives have been endangered due to drug activity in their homes, including methamphetamine labs. The Drug-Endangered Child Program (DEC) is hosting a press conference to educate the public about the new collaboration on Friday, March 30, 2007, at 10:00 a.m., at the County Government Center, Sheriff’s Department.

TWO DEPUTIES RECUSE WOMAN FROM FIRE: Ignoring billowing smoke and extreme heat, two Ventura County Sheriff’s Deputies courageously rescued a 51-year-old Newbury Park resident from her burning home Monday morning. Senior Deputy Guy Peach and Deputy Anthony Nagy went to the house on Goldencrest Avenue in response to a 9-1-1 call from the resident. Good Samaritan: On March 30, 2006, (V) Eriselda Vargas was watching a Hollywood film crew from a sidewalk near the Central Market on Sespe Avenue in Fillmore, CA. At some point she mistakenly dropped an envelope containing a cashiers check in the amount of $1,918.00.

Suspicious Circumstances - Hollywood Beach: On 03/28/06 , at about 2:50 p.m. , a ten-year-old male student of Hollywood Beach Elementary was standing in the rain, waiting for his ride. An unknown adult male drove up to the child. The unknown adult male asked the child if he wanted to wait in his car where it was warm. The child refused the offer and went to the school’s office.

Donald McCoy was driving his vehicle westbound on Tierra Rejada Road and for unknown reasons his SUV traveled off the roadway and onto the raised center median where it collided with a parkway tree. Child Molest in Fillmore: On March 9, 2006, two children were lured into a residence in the city of Fillmore by offers of receiving a free paint ball gun. Once inside, the suspect asked several sexual related questions of the young girl. Through questioning, deputies determined no sexual activity occurred. The juvenile suspect was cited and released to his parents.

An unknown male suspect entered the store wearing a ski mask, held several store employees at gunpoint, and took an undisclosed amount of cash.

Thousand Oaks Man Arrested for Child Molestation: On March 2, 2006, the Thousand Oaks Police Department concluded an investigation in a case involving a 38 year old male adult sexually molesting a young female. Robert Manson, a resident of Thousand Oaks, was arrested on numerous charges for committing sex acts with a 14 year old female victim.
