Missing At-Risk Person: A vehicle belonging to a missing Moorpark man was recovered May 3, 2008 in Monterey Park, but the man’s whereabouts are unknown. The 2004 Chrysler PT Cruiser belonged to the brother of Gilbert Valenzuela, who was reported missing by members of his family on May 2, 2008. Valenzuela was last seen on May 1, 2008 at 10:00 p.m.

Car Fire and Dead Body: California Highway Patrol and Ventura County Fire Department responded to a fully engulfed car fire on Pacific Coast Highway at Sycamore Canyon early this morning. Upon extinguishing the fire the body of a male was found inside the small compact sedan.

Man Arrested for Lewd Acts Unon Children: On May 20, 2006, Ventura County Sheriff’s Detectives completed a four-month investigation culminating in the arrest of Antonio De Alejandro. De Alejandro was arrested for committing lewd acts upon children under the age of 16. De Alejandro lived in Fillmore and Moorpark when the molestations occurred between 1996 and 2004, and was affiliated with two area churches as an elder. De Alejandro moved to Colorado in 2006.

Dr. John Anderson Killed In Tractor Rollover: Dr. John Anderson, DVM, was using a tractor to clear brush from property located at the very north end of Bixby Road. While traversing a small hill, the tractor overturned ejecting Dr. Anderson. As the tractor rolled over sideways, Dr. Anderson was pinned underneath and suffered fatal injuries.

Businesses Sell Alchol To Minors: On Friday, May 12, 2006, in an effort to reduce underage drinking, deputies from the Ventura County Sheriff’s Department, Headquarter Station and investigators from the Department of Alcoholic Beverage Control conducted compliance checks using minors (under the age of 20) as decoys to attempt to purchase alcoholic beverages from area businesses.

Inhalants Are A Dangerous Game With Life: This past week Moorpark Deputies responded to a green belt area in northern Moorpark where four teens were inhaling a household product to get “high.” Thanks to an observant resident, the incident was called into the Moorpark Police Department. This is an example of the community working with their local police department to prevent what could have been an incident with life threatening results.

Sexual Assualt: On May 8, 2006 , at about 1:00 PM , Detectives arrested Juan Santos Barrera near his residence after an investigation revealed that Barrera had been involved in molesting a juvenile victim. The crime began in September 2005 after Barrera befriended a homeless illegal alien juvenile and invited the victim to live in his home.

Battery On Peace Officer: On 5/8/06 at about 7:00 PM, Deputies assigned to the Fillmore Patrol Station responded to a callf or help at a residence int he 300 block of C Street int he City of Fillmore. Alberto Felix reported that he had been physically attacked by his son, Ruben Felix.

Click It or Ticket in Fillmore: Captain Bruce Macedo, Fillmore’s Police Chief, is giving an early warning to vehicle drivers and passengers that officers will be issuing tickets to persons not wearing seat belts from May 15 through June 4, 2006 that includes the upcoming Memorial Day weekend.

Newbury Park Home Invasion: On May 8, 2006 at 1:00 p.m. a home invasion robbery occurred in the Newbury Park area of Thousand Oaks . Two suspects forced an adult male victim into his residence and then handcuffed him. The two suspects then ransacked the residence, taking jewelry and money. Each of the suspects displayed a handgun before fleeing the residence in a red minivan.

Thousand Oaks Home Invasion: Officers with the Thousand Oaks Police Department responded to the 3200 block of Sawtooth Ct. in Thousand Oaks for a report of a Home Invasion Robbery. The victim had returned to her residence after being gone for 20 minutes and found two Hispanic males inside her home.
The suspects bound the victim’s hands and rummaged through the home for approximately 30 minutes prior to leaving with $1,600.00 in cash.

Rescue at Mt. Pinos: On 5/05/2006 at approx. 1130 hrs, Mr. Lee and several family members were having lunch at a campground near the Chula Vista Parking lot on top of Mt. Pinos. Mt. Pinos is the highest peak in both Ventura County and Kern County with an elevation just under 9,000 feet.

Spanish Hills Embezzlement: Sheriff’s major crimes detectives concluded a major embezzlement investigation, culminating in the arrest of two suspects. Daphne Brenon and Reynaldo Bernabe were arrested after an investigation determined that both suspects had embezzled over $100,000 from the Spanish Hills Homeowners Association while employed by Dahl Davis Property Management firm from 2000-2003.

Burglary in Silverstrand: On 5/3/06 , at approximately 2:00 am , deputies responded to a possible “burglary in-progress” call at the Beachcomber in the Silverstrand Beach area of Oxnard . Deputies arrived on scene and observed the suspect breaking into the back door of the business.

Vehicle Burglaries in Moorpark: In the early morning hours on 5-2-06 , deputies from the Moorpark Station responded to a report of several vehicle break-ins in the 12500 block of Sunnyglen Dr , in the City of Moorpark . Deputies learned that approximately eight vehicles were broken into with miscellaneous property taken from the vehicles.

Toby Welchel, the suspect in yesterday's double homicide, ended his own life in the Simi Valley Wal-Mart this morning after killing a Santa Rosa Valley woman and beating her two children and the family's pool maintenance man.
