HOME INVASION SUSPECT ARRESTED: In October 2007, Members of the Ventura County Sheriff Gang Unit had information that a suspect wanted in a Fillmore home invasion robbery was possibly staying in the Santa Maria area. The suspect, Nathan Oseguera, is a member of “The Boyz”, or “TBZ” criminal street gang and was wanted on charges including robbery and kidnapping.

VISTA RAPE SUSPECT ARRESTED: Sheriff’s investigators arrested a Vista bus driver on Monday October 15 for the rape of a female victim who was a passenger on the bus. James Banks drove the victim to the Government Center, which was outside of his normal route.

Serial Burglar Arrested: A sheriff’s department surveillance team arrested a Thousand Oaks man Friday night while he tried to force open a window on a parked car. Gustavo Salgado was trying to push a partially-opened window down to gain access to the car, which was in the parking lot of the St. Charles Oaks Apartment complex.

Homicide Arrest: On Saturday, October 28, 2006, at 2:53 AM, Camarillo patrol deputies were called to the scene of a vehicle that had collided into two pedestrians in the 1600 block of Dewayne Avenue, and then into a home in the 1800 block of Dewayne Avenue. As a result of that incident, one male victim was taken to a local hospital in critical condition and placed on life support.

Murder Arrests: Sheriff Bob Brooks is pleased to announce the arrest of Rudolfo Negrete for the murders of Daniel Campos and Alex and Cynthia Jordan in April 2004. The bodies of the three victims had been found shot to death. |

Los Robles Hospital Robbery: On October 24, 2006, at about 12:25 PM, a Hispanic male suspect entered the cashier’s office at Los Robles Hospital and demanded cash. The suspect did not display any weapons, but intimated that he had a possible weapon in backpack. The suspect left the hospital with an undisclosed amount of cash. He is described as approximately 5’5” tall, medium build, with dark skin, black hair, clean shaven, wearing a black t-shirt and sunglasses, and carrying a blue backpack. Citibank Robbery: On October 24, 2006, at about 12:14 PM, a white male suspect entered the Citibank, located at 2170 Newbury Road, and demanded cash. The suspect did not display any weapons. The suspect left the bank in an unknown direction with an undisclosed amount of cash. He is described as approximately 5’10” tall, medium build, brown hair, wearing a tan long sleeve shirt and sunglasses. Homicide Victim Identified: The male subject who was the victim of a gunshot wound in El Rio on Wednesday, October 11, 2006, died as a result of his injury on Friday, October 13, 2006 while at St. John’s Hospital in Oxnard. He has now been identified as Juan Avila Pirir. |

FILLMORE SEXUAL BATTERY: On Friday, October 13, 2006 a fourth reported case of sexual battery was reported. The suspect came up from behind the victim and grabbed the victims buttocks with his hand then ran on Ortega Street towards "C" Street, then towards Highway 126. Deputies swarmed the area, but unable to locate the suspect.

FILLMORE SEXUAL BATTERY: On 10/11/06 at approximately 6:00 P.M. the V3 was jogging along ‘A’ Street when an unknown Hispanic male in his mid to late 20’s ran up behind the victim and restrained her from behind with his arms. The suspect than fondled the victims. At that point the victim broke loose from the suspect, causing the suspect to run off.

JAIL POPULATION: On October 8, 2006 , the two jail facilities operated by the Ventura County Sheriff’s Department reached a record inmate population of 1803 inmates. This amount is 200 persons over the housing capacity. The design rated bed capacity for the Pre-Trial Detention Facility (Main Jail) and the Todd Road Jail Facility combined is 1600.

William Alan Malgren Arrest: Sheriff’s investigators arrested the current pastor of Grace Baptist Church in Moscow , Idaho for continuous sexual abuse of a child, which occurred repeatedly between 1983 and 1989, when the victim was a student at Thousand Oaks Baptist School . William Alan Malgren, who was the pastor at Thousand Oaks Baptist Church at the time, began sexually assaulting the victim when she was seven years old and a student at the school, which was located on the grounds of the church. The abuse continued until the victim was 14 years old.

Home Invasion Robbery: On Sunday, October 1, 2006 , at about 12:40 pm , seven victims residing in a home in the 11000 block of Aster Street , Saticoy, reported that they had been the victims of a home invasion robbery.
