This Unit is responsible for the collection and analysis of the activities of organized crime groups and organizations, public disorder groups, and domestic and foreign terrorist cells, organizations and factions. The Unit works closely with Federal, State and local law enforcement agencies with the identification and investigation of terrorist activities. The Unit's personnel are members of the Joint Terrorism Task Force (JTTF), and the California Anti-Terrorism Information Center (CATIC).

Additionally, this Unit is responsible for the investigation of vice crimes and activities, which includes street prostitution, escort service prostitution, massage parlor prostitution, lewd conduct in public, gambling, bookmaking, illegal lotteries, pyramid schemes and pornography.

Although vice crimes are often classified as victimless crimes, the Unit recognizes the fact that organized crime is still involved in many aspects of vice-related crimes. The aggressive stance towards enforcing the current laws relative to vice inhibits the ability of organized crime syndicates to gain a foothold in Ventura County.
